Loved and Hated: 200 Years of Nationaltheater

This year the Nationaltheater celebrates its 200 anniversary and the Bayerische Staatsoper celebrates its 100. With the title of Loved and Hated because of all the discussion the Opera had generated through decades, they had thrown some unique events since the beginning of the year, like a unique virtual reality opera experience called Three Six Zero 360º. They will also launch the Staatsoper TV with operas and ballets that can be watched all over the world, and other amazing projects that will be running until the end of 2018.

Love, Hated and Nevertheless Faithful is a special production created on the occasion of the anniversary of the Opera, revisiting the classic The Magic Flute that turns 40 years old. The Frl. Wunder AG performance group present this opera as a result of a research project about the classic dealing with relationships, emotions, and timeless questions.

Another interesting show you can watch these days is the ballet Jewels. Inspired by a jewelry store in New York, the choreographer George Balanchine create this ballet story in 1967 with three acts: Diamonds, Emeralds, and Rubies. With music of Gabriel Fauré, Igor Stravinsky, and Peter I. Tschaikowsky, the ballet pays homage to three different countries: Russia, France, and the United States. A neoclassical phantasie with an abstract story that will not leave anybody indifferent.

If you think opera or ballet is expensive, you have to know that you can get tickets from the ridiculous price of  10 €, 14 € or 30 €, to the most expensive ones for 130 € approx. For more information visit the Bayerische Staatsoper website.
