7. Chinesisches Filmfest München

The Pluto Moment

From September 29 to October 5, 2019, the Chinesisches Filmfest München will offer exciting and authentic film culture from the land of the Great Wall. The varied program includes blockbusters, arthouse productions, documentaries, and classics that bring insights into a strange and enigmatic country for western eyes.

In total, the festival shows 18 films, all of which can be seen in the original version with subtitles, and many are celebrating their German premiere in Munich. These are our recommendations:

  • Thursday 3 October: The Pluto Moment. The film director Zhun Wang lives in Shanghai but travels to a mountain area in China to film a documentary about the traditional song “The History of Darkness”. There he will experience an epiphany that will change his life. The film will be shown in OmeU (Original version with English subtitles).
  • Friday 4 October at 8.30 pm: Forever young. This is a story of a generation conflict and corruption taking place in Peking in 2012, in 1962, in 1938 and in 1923. The film will be shown in OmeU (Original version with English subtitles).
  • Saturday 5 October at 6.30 pm. Our Time Will Come. This film tells the story of the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in 1941 from the eyes of the resistance. The film will be shown in OmeU (Original version with English subtitles).

Besides the festival, you can visit the exhibition of “Chinese Movie Poster of the Last 70 Years – Manman Kan 慢慢 看” until the 5th of October on the 1st floor of the Gasteig, with free entrance.
