Fashion can be the most frivolous industry, but also one of the most creative. The line between just clothes and art is sometimes thin, especially if we talk about designers like Virgil Abloh, the current Louis Vuitton‘s artistic director. Famous for customizing a deadstock of Champion‘s clothes that cost just $40 € for $550 or more, we are not sure if he is a genius laughing in the face of capitalism using its mechanisms, or just a clever marketing guy. Anyway, his taste and his original imprint is something undeniable.
The group exhibition Coming of Age is curated by Abloh and counts with the works of 18 photographers like Isa Saalabi, Nobuyoshi Araki, Mohammed Bourouissa or Inez & Vinoodh, just to name a few. This latest edition, curated specially for Munich, offers a diverse look around boyhood that goes through subcultures, social economics, class, camaraderie, friendship, and solitude with a happy and vibrant perspective.
The exhibition will be available at Espace Louis Vuitton until the 22nd of February. The entry is free, and guided tours are available if you book it in advance. More information at the Espace Louis Vuitton web.
