A night with Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau
July 10 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm€5 – €6
Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau was key in the German expressionism movement, and Nosferatu, his masterpiece. Seduced by the obscure, Murnau has shown through his career strange creatures living in the darkness, metaphorical and literary speaking.
The figure of Nosferatu is based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, and it’s a classic of the history of the cinema. Black and white images, no sound and an austere set form part of Nosferatu. A symphony of horror, a film from 1922 that we can watch today thanks to Henri Langlois and the Cinémathèque française, who kept a copy of the French version of that year. The musicians Sabrina Zimmermann and Mark Pogolski will create the perfect live soundtrack for the film, creating an atmosphere full of intrigue.
On the occasion of the homage to the expert film and former director of Filmmuseum Munich, Enno Patalas we will be able to watch the same night, the Enno Patalas and Frieda Grafe documentary Phantombilder. Zum 100. Geburtstag des Filmregisseurs Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau (Phantom images. For the 100th birthday of the film director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau). A night full of mystery.
