Exhibition: World Receivers
November 4, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - March 10, 2019 @ 7:00 pmFree – €10
Three women and three different visions of modernism. Georgiana Houghton, Hilma af Klint, and Emma Kunz developed their unique abstract artistic visions about transcendental, spiritual and supernatural issues during the beginning of the XX century.
The exhibition World Receivers at Lenbachhaus explores their oeuvre and their experiences with spiritual communication as they perceived themselves as mediums or recipients of messages that could be only communicated through art. They deprived themselves of any boundary or limit, letting the abstract art flew. In this group exhibition, there is also room for experimental films about perception by Harry Smith and the brothers John and James Whitney, who introduced innovative production methods.
World Receivers opens its doors to the general public on 6th of November but it will be an opening on Sunday 4th of November from 7 pm for free. One trip to the unknown at other times that it’s worth to explore.
