When I grow up I want to be like Karin Elisabeth Dreijer Andersson. This is the real name behind the music of Fever Ray. Karin is not a human being, is something more. Her voice combines shrill and deep tones in an extraordinary way using multitracked vocals and creating an unusual atmosphere, and apart from her music and creativity, she has an amazing personality.
Her last album after 8 years of silence as Fever Ray (she is a half of the band The Knife, as you may know) is called Plunge, and talk about feminism, patriarchy, sexual freedom, free abortions, anticapitalism and other interesting topics. The Swedish artist began her career with the homonymous album Fever Ray, composing hits like When I Grow Up or If I Had A Heart while she was pregnant. Now, some years later, her album has more lust, passion, and violence. Listen to it is like a reality check that punches you in your face in a nice and hypnotic way.
