Cinema is an art by itself. A lot of people consider painting, sculpture or whatever exhibited in a museum as Art, with capital letters. But the truth is, that every type of creation is ART. Music, theater, cinema, and painting are different ways of telling a story.
Some of the films of the 65 edition of Filmkunstwochen link all this kind of arts. For example, films like Dries Van der Noten, Dalida, Neruda, Final Portrait or Whitney can I be me, that are showed in the section Künstler, Denker, Draufgänger (Artists, Thinkers, Daredevils). This year, they dedicate a whole section to the actress Isabelle Huppert, another to the French director François Ozon, and another to the legendary actor James Dean. And of course, they have a section dedicated to the best films of the last years with films like Patterson, Moonlight, The salesman, or La La Land, to name a few. Some weeks to enjoy of art in all senses of the word.
The Filmkunstwochen is celebrated around different cinemas in Munich from 19th of July to 16th of August. Consult the whole program in the Filmkunstwochen page.
