Maybe the name of Harry Dean Stanton doesn’t sound familiar to you but if I say he is the male protagonist of the Wim Wender’s classic Paris, Texas probably you will give a face to his name.
Lucky is the last film where Harry Dean Stanton performed, released some months before of his death at the age of 91. He is the absolute protagonist of the film, which explores the life of an atheist who lives in the desert and fights against old age. The great and unique David Lynch has also a role in the movie, showing he can also perform. It is also the debut film as a director of John Carroll Lynch, who has a long career as an actor in films like Fargo, Beautiful Girls, Gran Torino, and many others.
Some critics had said this is “the humblest deep movie of the recent years”. The magical presence and gaze of Stanton and tons of beauty and poetry are present in every frame of this film. A must-see!
